Turkey Travel Agencies Association (TÜRSAB) Chairman Cevdet Özgökçe Eastern Anatolia Regional Executive Committee, which is celebrated on April 15 to 22 date with agency representatives ‘Tourism Week’ events visited the scope of Akdamar Island. Özgökçe also invited Astronaut Kate Rubins, who was the 1st in the NASA contest with the photograph of Lake Van from space, to Van, and said, “Van has become a known city and geography all over the world. “We expect to host guests,” he said.
In Akdamar Island, which is located in the middle of Lake Van and where thousands of local and foreign tourists come every year, with the arrival of spring, the blooming of the almond trees and the snow on the slopes of the surrounding mountains have created an insatiable view.
Reached after a 20-minute boat ride from Gevaş district, the island attracts the attention of visitors every season.
TÜRSAB Eastern Anatolia Regional Executive Board Chairman Cevdet Özgökçe visited Akdamar Island with a group of agency representatives accompanying him. Özgökçe reminded that with the photo taken by Astronaut Kate Rubins on September 12, 2016, Lake Van came first in the world in the NASA photo contest.
Saying that they organized a trip to draw attention to the beauties of Akdamar Island in the ‘Tourism Week’ activities celebrated on April 15-22, Özgökçe said, “We are in Akdamar Island, the island of our geography today, to emphasize this. Almond trees bloom, it resembles a wedding dress. You know NASA. Van Lake was the first in the world in the photography contest organized by. This was a great advertisement for us. It became a city and a geography known all over the world. Thus, we expect to host guests from all over the world, especially from Europe. “Good businesses have been established in the accommodation and catering sector. All our businesses have received a reliable tourism certificate. Van is ready not to hurt its guests.”
Emphasizing that the pearl mullet fish migration started as of April 15, Özgökçe stated that the fish migrating from the salty and soda water of Lake Van to the fresh waters by swimming in the opposite direction of the water offered a visual feast and said, “I have mentioned the pearl mullet migration once a year on several tourism platforms. We want to celebrate it as a festival once. Here, our friends also had a request. We can actually do the almond flower festival. In the beginning of April, the almond trees are blooming and displaying a very beautiful visual feast. We will meet with our sector representatives and talk about this, “he said.
Özgökçe also invited Astronaut Kate Rubins, who was the 1st in the NASA contest with the photograph of Lake Van from space, to Van, and said, “We invite Kate Rubins who took the photograph of Lake Van here. Our dear Governor also touched upon this issue. We invite him to our city. We want him to come to Van as soon as possible. He has many houses in Van. We are waiting for everyone in Van, “he said.
