According to the research, Turks prefer Bodrum for their summer vacation, while foreign tourists prefer Fethiye.

The Media Monitoring Center (MTM) researched the holiday resorts of Turkish tourism, which are the most talked about in domestic and foreign media. According to the results of the research; Turks prefer Bodrum and foreigners prefer Fethiye.
According to official data from the Ministry of Tourism; While the number of domestic and foreign tourists visiting Turkey in 2020 was 15.9 million (12.7 million foreigners, 3.2 million locals), this figure decreased by 69.14 percent compared to 2019. Although the number of foreign tourists, which was 4.2 million in the first 4 months of 2020, decreased to 2.7 million in the same period of 2021, the expectations are that the situation will be better.
Mehmet İşler, Vice President of Turkish Hoteliers Federation (TÜROFED), pointed out that the tourist expectation is over 20 million this year and drew attention to the activity in the sector. After the expected intensity in the tourism sector, popular holiday resorts in Turkey also took their place on the agenda. Cesme, which has continued to increase its popularity by becoming a frequent destination for famous figures in recent years, ranked second as the subject of 10 thousand 583 news and social media posts.
Alanya, one of the most popular resorts of the Mediterranean, which is one of the first regions that come to mind when vacation is mentioned, entered the list at the third place by taking part in 9 thousand 354 news and social media posts.
Pamukkale, which is included in the UNESCO World Heritage List, is among the most talked about resorts for holidays. Pamukkale, which maintains its popularity with its travertines and many tourism figures such as ancient pools and spas, has put its name on the 4th place of the list with 7 thousand 325 news items.
Marmaris, another tourism destination preferred by both domestic and foreign tourists, has become one of the most talked about holiday regions. Marmaris, which is always popular with its many beaches, castles and archaeological museums, took the 5th place in the list by showing itself in 6 thousand 977 news and social media posts in the last 1 month.
Bodrum, which is one of the most preferred holiday resorts by the art and society community, was the most talked about area with 1,159 news on television, as in other media, while its closest rival, Kaş, took the 2nd place in the list with 496 news. Local newspapers with 23 news on the subject in a one-month period; it seems to have included 44 percent more news on popular holiday destinations than national newspapers that made 16 news in the same period. 3 thousand 324 news about holiday resorts were broadcast on television channels. Turkey, which hosted 12.7 million foreign tourists last year, continues to draw attention with its vaccination rate. Turkish tourism resorts have been the subject of more than 14 thousand comments and shares, although they are spoken 83 percent less than in Turkey on the global social media channel.
Fethiye, which attracts the most attention from foreign tourists, was the subject of more than 3 thousand shares, while Bodrum, the most popular holiday resort of Turkey, was ranked 2nd in the list with more than 2 thousand 500 conversations.
