The only blue flag beach of Istanbul: Şile Uzunkum Beach

In the summer season, Şile Uzunkum Beach, which is one of the frequent destinations of many local and foreign tourists, started to wave the ‘blue flag’ this year.

Şile Uzunkum Beach was awarded the internationally important Blue Flag, which was awarded for 4 years on the basis of environmental safety, cleaning, transportation, health and infrastructure services, as well as the suitability of samples taken from the sea for 4 years. Uzunkum Beach, which has been waving the blue flag since 2012, is the only beach in Istanbul with a blue flag.
At Uzunkum Beach, the blue flag was hoisted with the participation of Şile Mayor İlhan Ocaklı, Garrison Commander Air Colonel Hazel Yılmaz and representatives of non-governmental organizations. Within the scope of the event, Şile Municipality Youth Orchestra gave the participants enjoyable moments with the music they played.
Within the scope of the program, which started with the National Anthem and a moment of silence, Mayor İlhan Ocaklı spoke about Şile Uzunkum Beach and the works carried out throughout the district. Chairman Ocaklı stated that they continue to work on other beaches in Şile in order to gain the Blue Flag.
Speaking after the program, Şile Mayor İlhan Ocaklı said, “We have opened the only blue flag beach of Istanbul. Şile, which opens to the Black Sea, is an important value for us. We look forward to the summer season with great abundance with our golden sands, forests and deep blue waters. We wish the citizens who will prefer this place have a good holiday in advance,” he said.
Ocaklı also made a statement regarding the mucilage that occurred in the Sea of ​​Marmara: “Our state has started the necessary measures and studies. We are assertive in our own field. Şile continues to serve with its Blue Flag, beaches and forests yesterday and today. Our citizens come here in peace. They can come and spend their holidays”
