Due to the increasing tourism potential in the Eastern Black Sea Region in recent years, work has been initiated for new alternative places to Uzungöl Tourism Center, which has become unable to meet the demand.
Institutions seeking alternative regions investigated the places to be determined in detail in terms of pasture, archaeological site, transportation and other features. Steps were taken to establish 8 new tourism centers in the city, which will include artificial lakes.
The first artificial lake was created in the district of Düzköy, Hirsafa Plateau. The animal will be used for drinking water and recreation, the 108-meter-long lake will hold 30 thousand cubic meters of water.
The second artificial lake will be held in Kadıralak Plateau, where the ‘blue star’ flower blooms every April.
Other artificial lakes will be established in Akçaabat Hıdırnebi, Uçarsu, Düzköy Beypınarı, Köprübaşı Barma, Şalpazarı Gökçeköy and Sandıklı plateaus by the 22nd Regional Directorate of State Hydraulic Works. Conservation Development Plans are also being prepared to prevent illegal and indiscriminate construction in new areas.
Drawing attention to the fact that the Hirsafa Pond is located in a magnificent nature, Arif Emre Elmas said, “I have been here before at festivals. There was no such formation at that time. When we arrived now, we came across a very different scene. This place has a magnificent nature. A place to be seen. Calm down because of the pandemic It became a place like Uzungöl. It is not possible to compare Uzungöl with here, but it is closer to the city center. It was a good alternative, ”he said.
Explaining that many people are curious and come to see the pond, Ali Öztürk said, “I am a local. This place is much more beautiful than Uzungöl for us. Its scenery and nature are wonderful. There is a beautiful pond. There are forests. It used to be nice here as well. But now it’s much more beautiful. Bowerhouses will now be built around the pond. “Too many coming and going,” he said.
Fatma Karpuz said, “It used to be very beautiful, now it looks even better. Many people are trying to escape to nature due to the pandemic. Too many people come here. We are also sunbathing around the lake. We travel, we enjoy the fresh air, ”he said.
Uzungöl, which is located 20 kilometers from Çaykara district, at an altitude of 1250 meters and is the favorite tourism center of the Eastern Black Sea with its unique natural beauties, is flooded by local and foreign tourists. The lake, which has an area of 500 thousand square meters, is home to trout and carp. 10 kilometers south of Uzungöl, in the Holdizon Mountains at an altitude of 3 thousand meters, pedestrian walks can be made around Balıklıgöl, and wildlife can be watched in wild nature conditions. In recent years, the transformation project in Uzungöl, which has been discussed with the problem of zoning pollution due to the increase in the number of hotels, pensions and workplaces, has come to the fore.

TOURISM POTENTIAL OF THE REGION WILL INCREASE Many tourists come to the Eastern Black Sea Region from many countries, especially the Middle East, in recent years. The region has become unable to meet the intense interest especially in the summer months. In addition to Trabzon Airport, it is anticipated that the interest of domestic and foreign tourists in the region will increase even more with the opening of Ordu-Giresun Airport, Rize-Artvin Airport construction to be completed by the end of the year, and the opening of the Green Road.
