1500 RESEARCHERS COMING TO THE REGION A YEAR
Expressing that Karapınar receives 250-300 millimeters of precipitation annually, Uzun said that trees suitable for climatic conditions such as oleaster, acacia and ash were selected for the region.
Uzun stated that a “model area” has been left for future generations to see the effects of desertification, “In the past, the areas that became desert due to erosion were completely sand dunes. Currently, there is a forest and pasture area covered with trees, as well as the ‘example hill’ on that land. Today, 1500 researchers from various countries come to the region annually to see this struggle against nature.
