The deepest form of art: the world’s most beautiful underwater museums

Located in Mexico, between Cancun and Mujeres Island, this Cancun Underwater Art Museumis home to more than 500 sculptures by six different artists, notably British sculptor Jason deCaires Taylor. It also holds the title of the world’s largest underwater museum.

The foundation purpose of the museum is to help protect the balance of underwater nature by drawing scuba diving people away from natural coral reefs and towards sculptures. This innovative eco-tourism method has proven its success with hundreds of tourists visiting each year. While the deep parts of the museum can be visited by scuba diving, it is possible to see the galleries in the shallower areas by snorkeling or by a glass-bottom boat trip.
