At Istanbul Airport, 153 gold coins belonging to the Napoleonic period and 7 luxury watches were seized. Judicial control provisions were applied to the French citizen of Algerian origin who was detained.

According to the Anadolu Agency (AA) report, 153 gold coins belonging to the Napoleonic period and 7 luxury watches were seized at Istanbul Airport.
Within the scope of the measures taken by the officers of the Istanbul Police Department against the crimes of smuggling at Istanbul Airport, an application was made at the customs area exit at night on February 2.
During the implementation, the suspected Algerian-origin French citizen AB (49) was stopped.
The searches found luxury wrist watches from 7 different brands, each worth 300-500 euros, and 153 French gold coins produced between 1851-1914 during the Napoleonic era, which were smuggled into the country without notifying the customs office.
Judicial control provisions were applied to the suspect, a French citizen of Algerian origin, who was detained and transferred to the judicial authorities. The suspicious movements of the suspect at the airport and the police follow-up were reflected in the security camera footage.
