Kadir Gezmiş (24), inspired by his surname during the pandemic process, took his backpack and toured 81 cities by hitchhiking with a budget of 800 TL. Kadir Gezgin, who set up tents in the most beautiful places of the provinces he visited and lived in nature, spent time away from technology in his tent in the Munzur Valley National Park in Tunceli, his last stop.
With the start of the pandemic process, Kadir Gezmiş decided to travel the country and stay in nature. Gezmiş took his backpack, tent and necessary equipment from his house in Istanbul and set out. Gezmiş traveled all 81 provinces by hitchhiking and did not spend money on transportation during his trip from the Marmara Region with a budget of 800 TL.
Kadir Gezmiş, who traveled about 30 thousand kilometers by hitchhiking, spent the days when people stayed at home between four walls, staying in tents in the most beautiful spots of the provinces he visited.
The last stop of Gezmiş was Tunceli. After hitchhiking in the city center and reaching the Munzur Valley, one of Turkey’s largest national parks, Gezmiş set up his tent in the valley where it is home to many wild animals, and cooled off by swimming in the Munzur River these days when the air temperature increased.
Stating that he set out with his passion for nature instead of staying at home during the pandemic process, Kadir Gezmiş said, “Taking the first step was not an easy thing. After taking that step, I made it even more beautiful by traveling every inch of Turkey’s 81 provinces by hitchhiking with my will and self-confidence. “I had saved 800 TL. With this, I gained an advantage by shortening my meals and I traveled everywhere comfortably,” he said.
Gezmiş said, “Hitchhiking is a work of patience, it is not something that every person can take. It has been very difficult especially after the pandemic process intervened. Sometimes you wait on the road for 2 hours, sometimes 5 minutes. At night, I am on dark roads that I do not know. It is hot during the day and freezing in the winter. “I hitchhiked in the cold, in the rain in the fall,” he said.
Saying that he visited 81 provinces of Turkey, Kadir Gezmiş said that his next target is European countries.
