Photographer Resul Gümüş, who lives in İnegöl, played a pioneering role in the establishment of İnegöl Photography Art Association in 2006. Gümüş, who overcame the airplane phobia in 2012, went abroad for the first time in the same year.
Silver has traveled to 78 countries in the past 9 years. Silver bought magnets wherever he went. About 2 thousand magnets are now displayed in a room of his house.
Defining himself as a traveling photographer, Resül Gümüş said, “Since 2004, I have acquired photography as a profession with digital technology. In 2006, we established the İnegöl Photography Art Association and I served as its term president. I am also a graduate of photography and videography college. I have traveled 78 countries so far. I went abroad for the first time in 2012. Until that year, I had a fear of planes, that year I was defeated. From 2012 to 2021, I took photos on trips abroad.
I traveled more or less all continents in the world. It was also important for me to take pictures in places to visit, what I was going to take. In other words, I acted with the principle of traveling for photography, not photography. I photographed 7 wonders of the world. When we look at the future now, I hope I will go to a few more places I dream of. “Central Asia, England and Argentina are the places that are in my target,” he said.
Saying that he loves to buy magnets from places he goes to, Gümüş said, “I like collecting magnets and buying local souvenirs in my trips besides photography. So I have acquired a wide range for myself. I have bought about 2 thousand magnets so far. Besides, almost a flat with various objects. “I am trying to display what I have bought in my room. I want to exhibit it in İnegöl as our people can see.”
Stating that he had unforgettable moments during his travels, Gümüş said, “I went to Russia for the world cup in 2018. After a 24-hour train journey from Petersburg to Murmansk, I was interrogated by KGB agents. They took me to a room and started asking questions. I was also innocent. I told him that I came to the world cup game somehow and they were convinced.
I went up to two volcanoes. One is Bruma Volcano in Indonesia, I got very excited there. Her voice feels like it will explode at any moment. “I also shot with a drone there,” he said.
Noting that he has not forgotten his Far East travel, Gümüş said, “One of my ideals was to shoot the Great Wall of China. I went on tour. “It was destined to hang the Turkish flag there and represent our ancestors.”
