Tourists who come to rafting first go to the point where there is strong water flow to tour the canyon and then get on the rafting boats. Nowadays, only a few rafting boats are launched into the water compared to a few weeks ago, when the Iranian and Russian markets were excited by the fast opening of the season. Local tourists are trying to fill the silence caused by the pause in the arrival of Russian tourists until June 1. Local tourists prefer to visit Tazı Canyon and take photos instead of rafting due to restrictions.
In Köprülü Canyon, where more than 2 thousand rafting boats go to the water per day in the pre-pandemic period, the number remains between 100 and 200 in these months. Rafting operators, who are waiting for the opening of Russian flights as soon as possible, say that the preparations are completed and tourists are expected.
The rafting operator Süleyman Aksu stated that they had very busy days in the last week of March and the first 15 days of April and said, “We think that the intensity will start from June 1st. We look forward to the days when colorful boats will drift excitedly in the turquoise blue river water in the summer season.
The canyon, which is named as the ‘Greyhound Canyon’ by the locals and passes through the rocks of the Köprüçay River with a height of 200 meters, has recently become a favorite center of holidaymakers and tourists.
The magnificent view of the canyon at the top of the region, which is visited by thousands of holidaymakers and tourists for many natural activities such as rafting, trekking and climbing, in the 14-kilometer Köprülü Canyon National Park, also attracts the attention of trekking groups.
